Avoid Northwest Luggage Fees with a Luggage Scale

Northwest Airline has some conditions which one must fulfill in order for his/her baggage to be accepted in a Northwest flight. These conditions include the name, telephone number and address that must be clearly written on the outside of a baggage and you have to present a valid travel ticket on a Northwest flight. There are however some items that you are allowed to carry on board and Northwest has no liability on such items. Northwest also accepts pets as checked baggage but you have to pay a fee for this. Upon arrival at your destination your baggage will be checked and handed over to you.

There is also the baggage allowance which is the maximum number, weight and size of baggage that each customer is allowed to carry. This will depend on many variables which include the cargo compartment size, door dimensions, number of passengers, fuel requirements and government regulations. Under the baggage allowance the baggage will be measured and weighted to make sure that it meets the requirements. This has enabled Northwest to come up with a standard baggage allowance method of determining weight.

Northwest do realizes that there comes a time whereby one needs to transport excess, overweight or oversized baggage. These baggages exceed the weight or size limitations or someone would want to travel with additional baggage. In such situations, additional fee is charged and this is calculated on a one-way basis and the baggage will be delivered at the airport ticket counter. There are however some items that are charged differently like the military baggage which has got its luggage scale and also some sports items. The code-share passengers are also charged as if they are traveling in the same airline but with this the fee will be that of the boarding carrier.
